Advanced Software Engineer (m/f/d)

The AI Projects team is part of PALFINGER’s global ICT organization and responsible for building and operating company-wide AI products and services. We develop and maintain PAIP — PALFINGER’s internal AI platform used by over 2,000 employees across the globe — as well as specialized AI agents, integrations with enterprise systems, and AI-powered automation. We also drive the rollout of AI coding tools across the engineering organization and run hands-on AI Coding Workshops to enable development teams. As a small, autonomous team we work end-to-end: from ideation and prototyping through implementation, deployment, and user support. 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and evolve PAIP and other internal AI products — from new features and agents to platform improvements 
• Design, build, and operate applications powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI technologies, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and multi-agent systems 
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations connecting AI capabilities with enterprise systems 
• Own products end-to-end — from requirements gathering and stakeholder alignment through to production deployment and ongoing user support 
• Evaluate, prototype, and integrate emerging AI tools and technologies into the existing enterprise landscape 

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

• A degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field 
• At least 2 years of professional experience in software development 
• Strong skills in at least one backend technology (e.g. Python, C#, Node.js/TypeScript) 
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and generative AI — whether through work, academic projects, or personal exploration 
• Proficiency in using AI coding agents and AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) as part of your daily workflow — you should be able to teach others how to get the most out of these tools

Minimum yearly gross salary according to the Austrian metal industry collective agreement is EUR 52.197,04 based on full-time employment. According to experience and qualification, we offer a market-conforming overpayment.
